Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellations can only be made for errands that are Accepted or In Progress. All cancellations require administrative review to determine refunds and any applicable penalties. The goal is to minimize inconvenience while protecting both Clients and Runners fairly.
When Can You Cancel?
- Errands can only be cancelled when they are in Accepted or In Progress status (after a runner has been assigned and accepted the errand).
- Pending errands (no runner assigned yet) cannot be cancelled—you can delete them instead if needed.
- Completed, Disputed, or Canceled errands cannot be cancelled.
How to Cancel an Errand
- From your Errands page, open the errand you want to cancel.
- Click the "Cancel" button (available for Accepted or In Progress errands only).
- Provide a cancellation reason (required) from the dropdown or select "Other".
- Optionally add additional details explaining why you are cancelling.
- Submit the cancellation. The errand status will change to Canceled and the cancellation will be sent for administrative review.
Cancellation by Clients
- When you cancel an Accepted or In Progress errand, the full errand amount will be refunded to your wallet (the ₦500 service fee is not refunded).
- Your cancellation will be reviewed by an administrator, who may apply a fine and/or compensation to the runner based on the circumstances.
- Potential penalties: Up to 15% fine of the errand amount, plus compensation to the runner (typically up to 15% but can vary).
- The final fine amount, compensation, and refund will be determined by admin review—you will be notified of the outcome.
- Funds remain locked in escrow until the admin resolves the cancellation.
Cancellation by Runners
- When you cancel an Accepted or In Progress errand, the client will receive a full refund (errand amount + ₦500 service fee).
- Your cancellation will be reviewed by an administrator, who may apply a penalty (fine) depending on the circumstances.
- You may face penalties for cancellations, especially if done without valid reasons or repeatedly.
- Repeated cancellations without valid reasons may result in: fines, lower ratings, temporary suspension from bidding, or permanent account closure in extreme cases.
- Always communicate immediately via YiAiki chat if you need to cancel, and provide clear reasons.
Refund Processing
- Refunds are NOT processed instantly—all cancellations require administrative review first.
- After admin review, refunds are processed by unlocking the escrow funds back to your YiAiki wallet.
- If you were penalized (fine deducted), the remaining amount after deductions is unlocked to your wallet balance.
- Refunds go to your YiAiki wallet, not directly to your original payment method.
- You can then withdraw funds from your wallet to your bank account if desired.
Disputes vs Cancellations
- Cancellations are for Accepted or In Progress errands that you want to stop.
- Disputes are for Awaiting Approval errands where you are not satisfied with the completed work.
- If an errand is incomplete or unsatisfactory, use the Dispute process instead of cancellation (see Handling Issues).
